Scenario: An Ethical Dilemma

It’s half-time and the neighbors who regularly get together to watch the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday afternoon begin to make their way to the kitchen to refill their snack plates. While the others are out of the room, Evelyn lags behind to tell her neighbor, Jan, about Steve, her nephew, and his recent good fortune. Steve and his wife are about to put down a deposit on their first house. Steve works for JLT Cincinnati, a multi-state corporation with a campus in Cincinnati. Evelyn describes how thrilled the two of them are about the house, especially its location, as it will mean a much shorter commute time for Steve. Evelyn goes on to say how very much Steve appreciated Jan’s help last year in steering him to the open accounting position at JLT Cincinnati. With Steve just finishing college and the job market the way it was, that accounting position was like a dream come true for him.

Jan, who works in the Human Resources Department at JLT Cincinnati, feels a knot in the middle of her stomach at the news. She is aware that a decision has recently been made by the leadership at JLT Cincinnati to transfer the local accounting operation to JLT Wichita, corporate headquarters, a cost-saving move. The decision won’t be announced for a few more weeks, but even so, Jan knows that Steve will most likely not be offered a comparable job at JLT Cincinnati or even be asked to move to Wichita to take one of the few accounting positions that will open up there. He is the newest employee to join the group and seniority is always a major factor in downsizing activities at JLT.

1. What is the ethical dilemma Jan is faced with now? What should she do? Explain your answer.

2. What factors generally contribute to employees not operating ethically in business? When faced with an ethical situation, what steps can an employee take to try to make the most appropriate decision?

3. How can an organization help employees make appropriate decisions when faced with ethical situations? What steps can an organization take to try to ensure that all parts of the organization operate ethically?

What are partitions and volumes? How are they used?

Deliverable: Word document of 2 pages, APA format (excludes APA cover page and abstract; include reference page as applicable)

Each GiGi’s store has a small network of 20 client workstations and a Windows Server 2012 R2 on site. Seven of those workstations are inside the gas station convenience stores and are used by the cashiers to complete customer orders. Three of the workstations are used by the manager and the management staff, and the rest are in the gyro kitchen for the food preparation’s staff.

Your job for this unit is to take into consideration a future expansion of GiGi’s and what requirements their new servers would need.

Currently, there is only one GiGi’s location. In the near future, GiGi’s will open many other stores across the South.
Explain how you would work with the current management staff to determine how to set up the servers for the future expansion(s).
What key points should be taken into consideration in any system expansion?
The manager has claimed he wants partitions and volumes to be in place on the future server.
What are partitions and volumes? How are they used?
Specifically, explain how the store could use both.
Describe 3 specific server security features.
Which kind of security should GiGi’s incorporate? Why?

Adhere to APA formatting and reference guidelines when writing your response. Additionally, your response should be free of grammatical errors, use complete sentences, and give specific details to support statements

How do changes in labor productivity affect the U.S. standard of living?

Principles of Macroeconomics Unit 4 Homework Questions

Chapter 7 Unemployment and Inflation – Questions 2, 3, 5, and 7

2. (Measuring Unemployment) Suppose that the U.S. non-institutional adult population is 230 million and the labor force participation rate is 67 percent.

a. What would be the size of the U.S, labor force?

b. If 85 million adults are not working, what is the unemployment rate?

3. (Types of Unemployment) Determine whether each of the following would be considered frictional, structural, seasonal, or cyclical unemployment:

a. A UPS employee who was hired for the Christmas season is laid off after Christmas.

b. A worker is laid off due to reduced aggregate demand in the economy.

c. A worker in a DVD rental store becomes unemployed as video-on-demand cable service becomes more popular.

d. A new college graduate is looking for employment.

5. (The Meaning of Full Employment) When the economy is at full employment, is the unemployment rate at zero percent? Why or why not? How would a more generous unemployment insurance system affect the full employment figure?

7. (Inflation) Here are some recent data on the U.S. consumer price index:

Compute the inflation rate for each year 1993-2012 and determine which were years of inflation. In which year did deflation occur? In which year did disinflation occur? Was there hyperinflation in any year?

Chapter 8 – Productivity and Growth – Questions 1, 5, and 7

1. (Measuring Labor Productivity) How do we measure labor productivity? How do changes in labor productivity affect the U.S. standard of living?

5. (Long-Term Productivity Growth) Suppose that two nations start out in 2013 with identical levels of output per work hour—say, $100 per hour. In the first nation, labor productivity grows by 1 percent per year. In the second, it grows by 2 percent per year. Use a calculator or a spreadsheet to determine how much output per hour each nation will be producing 20 years later, assuming that labor productivity growth rates do not change. Then, determine how much each will be producing per hour 100 years later. What do your results tell you about the effects of small differences in productivity growth rates?

7. (Technological Change and Unemployment) What are some examples, other than those given in the chapter, of technological change that has caused unemployment? And what are some examples of new technologies that have created jobs? How do you think you might measure the net impact of technological change on overall employment and GDP in the United States?

Conduct an internet research on potential topics that you are considering for your Course Project before selecting one.

Course Project The BHA 3501 Course Project gives you the opportunity to study an important community health problem or challenge and analyze it in-depth, presenting your findings in an APA written paper format. Any topic introduced in this course may be selected for your project. It is a good idea to conduct an internet research on potential topics that you are considering for your Course Project before selecting one. You will want to determine that plenty of information is available online for incorporation into your project. In preparing the Course Project, you will critically analyze issues related to your community health topic, and you will consider both our current healthcare environment and future directions in community health. Guidelines The length of the Course Project should be seven to ten pages, double-spaced, and in strict APA format. The Course Project is a significant portion of your grade, so you should consider it a very important activity. You will need at least five outside sources for your Course Project beyond the course textbook. Web resources and professional journal articles will be key sources in researching your topic. In-text citations and APA referencing are required. You will list all of your sources on a Reference Page at the end of the project. The BHA 3501 Course Project will include at least the following sections; you may want to include others if you deem them appropriate: 1. Introduction of your Topic 2. Challenges and Problems Associated with your Topic 3. Review of the Community Health Literature 4. Critical Analysis of Challenges/Problems 5. Recommended Solutions 6. Implementation of Solutions 7. Justification of Solutions 8. Conclusion 9. References The professor is happy to review drafts of your Final Course Project so that you can have feedback and make any

Create a detailed flowchart for your process.

Brainstorm how to find and return a group of random numbers. You also need to consider that your function must return either Power-ball or regular Florida lottery numbers but not both. It must contain the following:

a. At least one function.

b. Any functions created must use arguments and parameters.

c. A value must be returned for each function.

d. You must not use “main code” variable inside of a function; you must pass values in as arguments and out as returned values.

e. All user prompts must be validated using a while loop.

f. Create a detailed flowchart for your process.

g. Keep in mind that the regular Florida lottery has six random numbers between 1 and 53; the Powerball lottery has five random numbers between 1 and 59 and a Powerball between 1 and 35.

• Each random number must be different; a lottery will never have two of the same number unless it is the final Powerball number.

• You should have at least one prompt to ask the user if they want the numbers for the Florida lottery or for the Powerball lottery.

o Each prompt should be validated using a while loo
