Assignment 5: Integrated Business Communication. Write a three to four (3-4) page paper that addresses the following:

As a future executive, explain what you think are the most important communication issues you will have to face as you embark upon your career.
Discuss whether communication will become more complex, or less complex, and why.
Address what role technology will play in the communication of thoughts and ideas.
Discuss how the information gap between generations, cultures, income levels, and education can be resolved.
Include a statement of your personal philosophy on the future of integrated business communication.

The format of the paper is to be as follows:

Typed, double-spaced, Times New Roman font (size 12), one-inch margins on all sides, APA format, a Microsoft Word document.
Use headers for each of the subjects being covered, followed by your response.
In addition to the three to four (3-4) pages required, a title page is to be included. The title page is to contain the title of the assignment, your name, the instructor’s name, the course title, and the date.

Answer these questions in essay format, using the instructions provided in the Assignment Instructions folder. Review the Essay 1 Grading Rubric to see how your essay will be graded.

Explain how you would evoke a startle response (reflex) using classical conditioning in an unsuspecting friend using an abnormal signal (produces the reflex). Describe your friend’s reflex response and a signal that will produce that reflex response; then choose another signal for the reflex and predict the outcome of using that signal. Clearly label the Unconditioned Stimulus (UCS), Unconditioned Response (UCR), Conditioned Stimulus (CS), and Conditioned Response (CR). Include a description of the setting and process for this hypothetical situation.

Describe how you would use operant conditioning, with a program of shaping, to get a messy roommate to make his/her bed neatly. Include and label the antecedent stimulus, response, and reinforcement of the changing program standards, and a method of self-regulation for the roommate.

In a hypothetical psychology internship, you have encountered a child with destructive tendencies. She bites herself, her dog, and your bag of supplies. Being afraid for her safety and your own well-being, you institute a plan to change her behavior. Suggest a punishment, with her possible reactions to that punishment. Then, try substituting an alternative behavior by reinforcing an incompatible response. Label the antecedent stimulus for the biting response, Punishment I or II, escape or avoidance, and the reinforcement for the new named response. What do you consider to be the best theory or method for improving this child’s behavior?

Give an example of a situation where you can model more effective behavior for someone whom you could positively influence. Describe in detail: yourself (the model), the observer, the behavior, and the reinforcement using at least 5 principles of Social Learning Theory

Police must obey the law in their effort to control crime. Legal restrictions may hurt the efficiency of police but by obeying the law, police gain social legitimacy. When a police officer violates the law, they jeopardize the rights of the accused and the rights of the innocent. The Fourth Amendment of the Constitution states:

“The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable search and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched and the persons or things seized.”

Read Weeks v. United States, Silverthorne Lumber Company, Inc., Et Al. v. United States, and Mapp v. Ohio. For each court case, address the following:

Explain the main issue or question involved in the case.
Explain the precedent or laws the court used in order to come to its ultimate conclusion.
Explain how the court applied the law to the facts of the case.
Identify the conclusion and restate the issue to provide the final answer.

How can personal exploration help an emerging adult in the process of vocational identity format (measures of personality, spiritual giftedness, aptitude, interest, etc.)?
What factors create a platform for success or lack of success in emerging adulthood?
Risky behavior in emerging adults – why do they do what they do? (Focus on high-risk behaviors related to relationships, physical health, vocation, etc.)

Spiritual Formation Across the Lifespan

Does developmental theory speak to the development of faith/belief?
How do the theories of Erickson, Piaget, Kohlberg and/or Fowler speak to spiritual development?
At what developmental stage does spiritual formation begin?
What influences impact spiritual formation throughout the lifespan?

These sample research questions are not intended for submission. They are simply presented to help you focus on your topic and develop your own set of questions so you will be better able to search through the multitude of articles available and present well-formed annotations.

Conduct your research.

Using the resources found in the Jerry Falwell Library, select 5 primary research or peer-reviewed journal articles of interest related to your chosen topic.

Required criteria:

Articles must be recent (published within the last 10 years).
Articles must be scholarly (primary research published in a scholarly publication or peer-reviewed journal).

Submit your preliminary list of articles during Module/Week 4

Note that your initial list of articles will be reviewed by your instructor. If the articles do not meet the required criteria, replacement articles will be required.
This assignment will include a correctly formatted title page and a correctly formatted reference page. The reference page must include at least five resources (see criteria above), formatted according to current APA guidelines.

Review approved articles and write an annotation for each of the five articles.

An annotation is a critical evaluation that provides a concise summary and analysis of an article. Each annotation must include:

A summary of the main points found in the article.
An examination of the strengths and/or weaknesses found.
Your evaluation of the article (useful, not useful, etc.)
Each annotation must contain 100–200 words.

Prepare for submission

A paper ready for submission will include the following:

APA formatted title page.
A correctly formatted citation.
One annotation for each of 5 approved articles.

The purpose of the COM425 Final Paper is to provide you with an opportunity to demonstrate your knowledge of the organizational communication concepts and skills that you have learned throughout this course.

Imagine that you are proposing a new communication structure for an organization. Write a formal proposal in which you discuss at least five concepts that you feel are most important for successful communication within an organizational setting. Explain why these concepts are necessary for successful communication and how best to implement them within an organization.

Examples of concepts that you may choose to use are active listening, organizational culture, conflict resolution, key principles of human communication, leadership strategies, formal and informal communication, etc.

Your information for this paper should not be based on your own opinions; you must back up your information with research. The research may include readings from this course or from outside sources. As the world economy becomes more globalized, it is expected that economic integration will continue. There are 6 stages of economic integration, as follows:

Preferential trading agreements
Free trade agreements
Customs unions
Common market
Economic and monetary union
Complete economic integration

Therefore, the European Union has come a long way, reaching stage 5 in 1999. It is the major monetary union of the approximately 20 monetary unions in the world today, and it is referred to as the European Economic Monetary Union, or EMU. The euro has become as important as the U.S. dollar and is being discussed as the next international currency, either replacing the U.S. dollar or sharing the position with the U.S. dollar as well as perhaps an Asian currency, such as the Japanese yen or Chinese yuan. For example, several countries are buying and selling oil in euros rather than U.S. dollars, which makes sense, given the majority of the oil transactions involve countries that use the euro. Other areas of the world are considering monetary unions, such as Southeast Asia and North America. Many countries’ central banks hold U.S. dollars for transactions involving oil and other international transactions, which also helps support the value of the U.S. dollar.

Your firm is expanding into Europe, and your department head has asked you to put together a report on monetary unions in general, include the following:

Discuss the advantages and disadvantages relative to a nation maintaining its own individual currency.
Discuss the EMU and the euro in detail, including the following:

The countries involved
