Are renewable energy subsidies and incentives a concern?

Some argue that renewable energy protects the environment and that the government should, therefore, offer subsidies and incentives for manufacturers and consumers who support energy efficiency. Alternatively, some studies indicate that renewable energy sources do not have a positive impact on the environment due to the pollution caused by manufacturing. Based on your research, establish your own position on government subsidies and incentives for renewable energy in a clearly stated thesis. Are renewable energy subsidies and incentives a concern? Why or why not? Explain and defend your position.

How is technology distributed? Is the emphasis of the system on preventive care or acute care?

Comparing Healthcare Systems

1) Our environment can negatively affect our health in many ways. Choose an environmental health issue from Centers for Disease Control and Prevention National Center for Environmental Health (http://www.cdc.gov/nceh/ehhe/). Briefly describe the problem and the negative health effects it creates.

What programs are available in your community to address the chosen environmental health problem? How can this environmental issue in your community spread and cause potential problems on a global scale?

2) Do you think that quality would be adversely impacted if the growth in medical technology were to be constrained in the United States? If costs are reduced, and more people could have access, do you think that this is a reasonable trade-off?

3)

i) How does the other country’s system work and how is it funded? Do the funding mechanisms work well in your view? (You might want to look at taxation rates.) Have there been implications to the country’s wider economy as a result of the cost of the system? Are they positive or negative?

ii) What is the ratio of physicians to the population, and how are they compensated? At what levels?

iii) What, if any, delivery shortcomings are experienced?

IV) How is technology distributed? Is the emphasis of the system on preventive care or acute care?

Develop a proposal for the development of a health care facility that is designed to meet the rapidly changing health care needs.

This Individual Project will be a foundation for the other Individual Projects in this course.

Health care in the United States is changing. A paradigm shift is occurring as more and more health care organizations are reorganizing existing business models from inpatient to outpatient services. That being said, you have been tasked to develop a proposal for the development of a health care facility that is designed to meet the rapidly changing health care needs. Within your proposal, you are required to research and discuss the following:

The type of facility you are recommending and the rationale behind your recommendation
The type of health care delivery that is provided at the facility
The type of providers (e.g., types of doctors and nurses) and professionals (e.g., allied health and administrations) that are needed to staff that facility

Apply business principles to the management of the healthcare organization

What types of clients would not be a good match?

APA FORMATTING AND ORIGINAL WORK PLEASE

The self-help movement has swept the world of substance abuse treatment. A new client may not be aware of any treatment options open to them aside from those of self-help group meetings, such as Alcoholics Anonymous. While self-help groups are not a solution for every client, they have been shown to be useful in some cases.

As future substance abuse counselors, it is important that you explore and be aware of the different self-help groups and what goes on in these group meetings.

Begin this assignment by doing the following:

Attend a self-help group related to substance abuse. There are multiple options including AA Open Meetings, Al-Anon, Women for Sobriety, and so forth. Information is easily accessible on the Internet. Note that some meetings are closed while others are open. At Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), most weekly groups are closed; however, open meetings are held primarily on weekends when all are welcome to attend.

Information for your area can be obtained through “AA Intergroup” at http://aa-intergroup.org/.

Introduce yourself and let folks know that you are a student. Remember to follow the guidelines of confidentiality.

If you are unable to access a twelve-step group because one is not available in your area, either research an online self-help group or research the implications of self-help groups in general including their strengths and weaknesses.

Write a paper about your experience and make sure you cover the following:

Evaluate the self-help group you attended and/or researched. Critique the strengths and weaknesses of self-help groups in terms of their value in the treatment of substance abuse.
Hypothesize what types of clients would be a good match for the group that you attended and/or researched. What types of clients would not be a good match? Consider age, gender, culture, race, sexuality, religion/spirituality, and the severity of substance abuse. Include other evaluation criteria for differential treatment. Explain your reasoning.
Predict how self-help groups are evolving over time. How can technology be used to supplement and/or replace face-to-face support groups?
Appraise the effect on the group experience when involuntary clients are present. Include the effect to treatment, counseling, and collaboration.
Recommend several ways to overcome resistance. How may technology be used to overcome resistance to treatment? Include collaboration issues involved in the treatment of involuntary clients using technology.

Write a paper in Word format and make sure you include a title page and reference page in addition to the 6–8-pages of content. Apply APA 6th edition standards to the format of the paper, and the citation of sources

Occupational Health and Safety Case study

Safety Plan Consider the following scenario. You are the safety and occupational health professional for your city’s health department. You received a call from a major food-distribution warehouse about some employees who are complaining of dizziness and feeling sick.

The scene is a very large warehouse; a significant portion is refrigerated. The illnesses are being reported from a refrigerated section (about 40 degrees F), where workers are blister packing food products on a production line. The warehouse has 20 loading docks, two railroad car lines that end directly inside the warehouse (in close proximity to the production area), a dozen or so gas powered forklifts, and no sensors or environmental monitors of any kind except those associated with the refrigeration systems. The warehouse manager is cooperative, but he points out that he is in the middle of contract negotiations with the union. He is also very proud of the fact that they have special seals on the loading dock doors and throughout the warehouse to keep the cold in and the heat out.

You cannot identify any discernible odors other than the exhaust from the forklifts when they move by you. There are four women waiting for you in the break room complaining of dizziness and lightheartedness. They are all comparing and complaining about their symptoms. There are 14 employees who work in this area of the warehouse: 12 women and 2 men.

Instructions: Based on the given scenario, develop a plan of action that includes how you would conduct the investigation, how you would identify possible sources of the problem, and your opinion on the likely source.

Discuss the standards applicable to possible sources. Include several recommendations you would make to the manager to help solve the problem based on your research into documented best practices for similar situations.

Note: You may make assumptions about the scenario in order to propose solutions (be certain to state your assumptions clearly).

Your Case Study must be four to six pages in length, double spaced. All sources used, must be referenced; paraphrased and quoted material must have accompanying citations
