Describe the approach that you would take to go from a conceptual or logical model that you created in Visio to the implementation of that database structure in MySQL.

  • Install EasyPHP and MySQL and take a screen shot that shows the MySQL prompt on your screen. (Note: You must include the screen shot which shows that MySQL is installed on your computer as part of your assignment. An installation guide to aid the installation of EasyPHP and MySQL is located here.
  • Research the capabilities of MySQL.

Write a one to two (1-2) page paper in which you:

  1. Describe your experiences related to your setup of MySQL. Include any difficulties or issues that you had encountered during the installation.
  2. Based on your post-installation research, describe the main capabilities of MySQL.
  3. Describe the approach that you would take to go from a conceptual or logical model that you created in Visio to the implementation of that database structure in MySQL. Determine the additional information that you will need to implement the database design in a database management system.
  4. Include the screen shot which shows that MySQL is installed on your computer

What alternatives might you have, either during the interview or as follow-up?

Diversity and Social Justice in the Interview ( one page) asap

The workplace today benefits from inclusion, with explicit laws and policies to support diversity and social justice. Nonetheless, the workplace interview can develop for a candidate into a situation that may be objectionable, threatening, offensive or inherently discriminatory — even if the interviewer does not intend it so.

Your assignment:

Consider a difficult question or line of inquiry, challenging your sense of diversity and social justice, that you as a candidate might receive in an interview.

-What do you suppose is the motivation of the interviewer?

-Discuss your take on such a question or line of inquiry. What do you see as your appropriate response?

-What alternatives might you have, either during the interview or as follow-up?

Be as explicit as you can. Reflect upon your own prior experience and the experiences of others known to you.

Illustrate the impact of organizational goals and objectives, structure, culture, environment, ethics policies, and incentive systems on ethical behavior within an organization.

A full-sentence outline helps you create the structure of your paper and the topic sentences of your paragraphs at the same time. Think of this document as your blueprint for the final paper. By approaching the outline in this way, you can more easily move paragraphs around and edit the flow of the paper before you write the full paper. This makes editing for the flow of information easier.

Create a full-sentence outline for your paper. Each sentence will act as a topic sentence for a new paragraph in your paper. The entire paper should be outlined using this method. This will allow your instructor to provide feedback to you about the information flow in your paper.

Example:

Your outline must use APA formatting, and be Times New Roman, 12-point font, with one inch margins. Include a title page for your assignment.

M8A1 Individual Research Project: Final Paper

One of the most beneficial exercises in a course exploring ethics is to develop a paper that allows you the opportunity to create connections between your personal view of ethics and the theory under discussion. The nature of ethical decision making is recognition, analysis and resolution. We often don’t make a decision because it’s ethical, but rather, because it makes sense from our personal view of the situation. That is, ethical decisions happen “after the fact” as we begin to see the actual implications of the decision.

With this in mind, your paper should explore current ethical issues in the workplace that are relevant to your current career or the career that you are preparing to pursue. Your task is to begin to explore the possible issues within your workplace and choose one to focus on throughout the course as you begin to build your final paper. Please consider the following as possible approaches for this final paper:

Illustrate the impact of organizational goals and objectives, structure, culture, environment, ethics policies, and incentive systems on ethical behavior within an organization.
Evaluate and revise an ethics program to increase ethical behavior within an organizational environment.
Create and systematically apply a defensible ethical moral framework to a contemporary ethics issue. To systematically apply the ethical moral framework, you must use the framework consistently as you describe the ethics issue. Explore the issue using the framework you create. HINT: This is done through the application of one of the theories we read about in Module 1.

The final paper is your opportunity to delve into a topic within the framework of ethics that you find interesting, based on your approved topic and thesis statement.

Focus your paper on the connection between your topic and ethics theory. You must use your approved topic.
You must support your views. While your opinions are important, they are not sufficient for a discussion for this type of paper. The academic connections are crucial.
The paper should be 5-8 pages in length (not including the title and reference page).
The paper should follow APA 6th Edition guidelines for all formatting:
1” margins
12-point Times New Roman font
Double-spaced
Use your full-sentence outline to build the paper. This creates the blueprint for the final paper.
The paper should have the following sections:
Introduction: State what you are going to tell me in the body of the paper. This is a synopsis of the point of the paper. The thesis statement resides here.
Body of the paper: This is the place where you pull your research together and develop your points. It should include:
An overview of the ethics theory you are using.
A connection of the theory to your topic.
A discussion about the impact of the topic and theory.
Conclusion: Restate what you have told me. This is your last opportunity to make your point, answer your question, or argue a perspective.
Don’t forget the importance of the transitions between paragraphs and sections. I should be able to read the last sentence of one paragraph and the first sentence of the next paragraph and see the connection. HINT: This is a good way to test whether you have effective transitions.
Grammar, spelling, punctuation, sentence structure, and paragraph structure matter: Spend time editing your paper. This means that you need to at least give yourself a three-day cooling off period between finishing the paper and editing the paper. This really does make a difference in what you catch and correct.

Summarize your findings and be sure to mention any aspect of the linear model project (topic, data, scatterplot, line, r, or estimate, etc.) that you found particularly important or interesting.

Curve-fitting Project – Linear Model (due at the end of Week 5)

Instructions

For this assignment, collect data exhibiting a relatively linear trend, find the line of best fit, plot the data and the line, interpret the slope, and use the linear equation to make a prediction. Also, find r2 (coefficient of determination) and r (correlation coefficient). Discuss your findings. Your topic may be that is related to sports, your work, a hobby, or something you find interesting. If you choose, you may use the suggestions described below.

A Linear Model Example and Technology Tips are provided in separate documents.

Tasks for Linear Regression Model (LR)

(LR-1) Describe your topic, provide your data, and cite your source. Collect at least 8 data points. Label appropriately. (Highly recommended: Post this information in the Linear Model Project discussion as well as in your completed project. Include a brief informative description in the title of your posting. Each student must use different data.)

The idea with the discussion posting is two-fold: (1) To share your interesting project idea with your classmates, and (2) To give me a chance to give you a brief thumbs-up or thumbs-down about your proposed topic and data. Sometimes students get off on the wrong foot or misunderstand the intent of the project, and your posting provides an opportunity for some feedback. Remark: Students may choose similar topics, but must have different data sets. For example, several students may be interested in a particular Olympic sport, and that is fine, but they must collect different data, perhaps from different events or different gender.

(LR-2) Plot the points (x, y) to obtain a scatterplot. Use an appropriate scale on the horizontal and vertical axes and be sure to label carefully. Visually judge whether the data points exhibit a relatively linear trend. (If so, proceed. If not, try a different topic or data set.)

(LR-3) Find the line of best fit (regression line) and graph it on the scatterplot. State the equation of the line.

(LR-4) State the slope of the line of best fit. Carefully interpret the meaning of the slope in a sentence or two.

(LR-5) Find and state the value of r2, the coefficient of determination, and r, the correlation coefficient. Discuss your findings in a few sentences. Is r positive or negative? Why? Is a line a good curve to fit to this data? Why or why not? Is the linear relationship very strong, moderately strong, weak, or nonexistent?

(LR-6) Choose a value of interest and use the line of best fit to make an estimate or prediction. Show calculation work.

(LR-7) Write a brief narrative of a paragraph or two. Summarize your findings and be sure to mention any aspect of the linear model project (topic, data, scatterplot, line, r, or estimate, etc.) that you found particularly important or interesting.

You may submit all of your project in one document or a combination of documents, which may consist of word processing documents or spreadsheets or scanned handwritten work, provided it is clearly labeled where each task can be found. Be sure to include your name. Projects are graded on the basis of completeness, correctness, ease in locating all of the checklist items, and strength of the narrative portions.

“Choose an Olympic sport — an event that interests you. Go to http://www.databaseolympics.com/ and collect data for winners in the event for at least 8 Olympic games (dating back to at least 1980). (Example: Winning times in Men’s 400 m dash). Make a quick plot for yourself to “eyeball” whether the data points exhibit a relatively linear trend. (If so, proceed. If not, try a different event.) After you find the line of best fit, use your line to make a prediction for the next Olympics (2014 for a winter event, 2016 for a summer event ).” That link will take you to the olympic database and i want to use soccer date back to 1980.

Describe how organizational goals and objectives, structure, environment, ethics policies, and/or incentive systems affect these unethical behaviors.

Culture is an area that we focus on in different ways when discussing organizational life. Culture is difficult to define, but it holds the key to individual behavior and ethical environments within organizations. We are familiar with strong organizational cultures, such as is evident in the United States armed forces. Each branch of the armed forces has a different culture that is made up of the underlying assumptions, beliefs, and values of the membership. Some of these cultural elements are shared among the branches, and others are unique to specific branches. For instance, the U.S. Soldier’s Creed provides soldiers with an understanding of their shared belief and value system.

A strong positive culture that has an underlying focus on ethical behavior has as much influence on an individual employee’s and manager’s behavior as a negative culture; however, in the news we hear most about the impacts of negative cultures on ethical behavior. As Gilbert (2012) points out, it is almost impossible for employees and managers to behave ethically if their organization’s systems are designed to support and reward unethical behavior. Therefore, managers need to understand that the organizational goals and objectives, structure, environment, ethics policies, and incentive systems have a fundamental impact on the way in which culture develops and affects ethical behavior.

For your discussion:

Consider your current (or previous) organization’s culture.
Describe the values, beliefs, and assumptions that drive the culture.
Explain some of the unethical behavior that occurs within your organization.
This might be based on conflicts of interest and/or observed practices.
Describe how organizational goals and objectives, structure, environment, ethics policies, and/or incentive systems affect these unethical behaviors.
Make at least one recommendation to shift the organization’s culture in order to increase ethical behavio

Analyze the issue and devise an adaptation of the incentive system discussed in the article to increase ethical behavior.

M6D1: How Should We Get Paid?

Incentive systems develop and are embedded in the structure of an organization. The design of incentive systems needs to account for the ethical dimension. When incentive systems do not consider the ethical dimensions, they can act like a trap. Employees earn additional pay through an incentive that is often tied to specific criteria associated with financial performance. When employees pursue the incentives, they can find themselves trapped in an unethical dilemma. Issues often arise when the incentive system creates a conflict of interest for the employee or manager.

Incentive system design is completely under the control of the organization. There is a need for companies to reconcile the need for organizations to maximize business profits through motivating employees with the need for ethical behavior (Hollis & Yakhou, 2008) through a focus on long-term objectives versus short-term profits.

For your discussion:

  • Use the EC Library to locate an article that addresses the ethical issues associated with performance-based incentive systems. This article can be a peer reviewed research-based journal article or a magazine/newspaper story.
  • Analyze the issue and devise an adaptation of the incentive system discussed in the article to increase ethical behavior.
    • This might mean that you offer an alternative to a strictly sales-based incentive system.
    • Consider the three major approaches (utilitarian, rights and duties, and fairness and justice) when discussing your alternative.
  • Describe how organizations can design systems that support ethical behavior, while also providing incentives for high levels of performance

What methods or techniques will you use to collect and preserve the evidence? Explain.

A man called the police and said that a body had fallen out of the sky and landed on his family car, which was parked in the driveway of his home. Initial canvassing of the area failed to locate any witnesses. The man who called the police was home with his family. They did not see the incident but reported hearing a loud thud and glass breaking.

You are the crime scene investigator. When you arrive at the scene, you find what you thought was a bizarre call is in fact true. You see the mangled body of a Caucasian man and a partially deployed parachute streaming in the mild breeze. You also note that the deceased’s reserve chute has not opened. Closer examination of the scene reveals that the deceased is wearing a leg bag containing about 20 lbs. of cocaine and U.S. currency totaling $28,000.00.

The victim had in his possession 2 state ID cards, one from California: Andrew Jackson, DOB 01-05-60, 1419 Petulia Drive, Santa Cruz, CA. The second ID is from Texas: Paul Smith, DOB 05-01-61, 268 Ridge Boulevard, Crawford, TX.

Assignment Guidelines

Address the following in 4 pages and no more then 25% plaigiarism:
In detail, explain the steps that you will take and the techniques that you will use to process from arrival until the scene is relinquished.
Prepare a comprehensive list of how the scene should be documented.
Create and include a crime scene sketch. Use your own neighborhood to fabricate any necessary details.
You may then draw and scan the sketch or use any software application of your choice.
Prepare a comprehensive list of at least 25 questions that need to be answered about the scene and the body.
Prepare a list of evidence that will be collected from the scene and from the body.
What methods or techniques will you use to collect and preserve the evidence? Explain.
Conduct a background investigation to develop logical leads, which would include an AFIS inquiry, applicable forensics analysis, and any other leads you determine to be appropriate.
Be sure to reference all sources using APA style

Discuss the logic of the legality of tobacco and alcohol versus the illegality of marijuana.

First, give some thought to what you’ve learned regarding the similarities and differences between tobacco, alcohol and marijuana on the variables of: health risk, public safety, potential for abuse and whether they are approved by the U.S. Federal government for medical use. Based on your own analysis:

Discuss the logic of the legality of tobacco and alcohol versus the illegality of marijuana. Regardless of your personal opinion, where do you find empirically-based logic in the current status of these three substances? Where can you offer empirical support for an alternative status that would be “logical”? If you see no logic at all, discuss and explain

Briefly explain these two models, highlighting their major points.

The “disease versus non-disease” model of alcoholism continues to be an ongoing, controversial debate. In the Criminal Justice field, the question is: is the alcoholic “not guilty” for a crime committed while under the influence because he or she has this disease? Briefly explain these two models, highlighting their major points. Then discuss which model you personally favor. Explain your rationale. How should the Criminal Justice System respond
