PICK ONE
Option 1: Police investigating the scene of a sexual assault recover a large blanket that they believe may contain useful physical evidence. They take it to the laboratory for a test for the presence of semen. The serologist asks if the investigator knows of Respond to one of the following:
anything that might recently have been spilled on the blanket. The investigator reports that an overturned bowl of grapes and watermelon was found on the scene, as well as broken glass that had contained wine. The scientist selects and administers the best test for analyzing that blanket. The blanket shows a positive reaction after three minutes of the completion of the test. What test was probably used and what was the conclusion? Explain your answer.
Option 2: Criminalist Cathy is collecting evidence from the victim of a sexual assault. She places a sheet on the floor, asks the victim to disrobe, and places the clothing in a paper bag. After collecting pubic combings and pubic hair samples, she takes two vaginal swabs, which she allows to air-dry before packaging. Finally she collects blood, urine, and scalp hair samples from the victim. What mistakes, if any, did Cathy make in collecting this evidence?
Option 3: A woman reports being mugged by a masked assailant, whom she scratched on the arm during a struggle. The victim gives the police a good description of her attacker, but she is not sure whether the assailant was male or female. Describe the steps and procedures you might use to determine the sex of the attacker.
Option 4: Police discover a badly decomposed body buried in an area where a man disappeared some years ago. The case was never solved, nor was the victim’s body ever recovered. As the lead investigator, you suspect the body is that of the missing victim. What is your main challenge in using DNA to determine whether it is or is not? How would you go about using DNA technology to test your theory?
Option 5: Define antigens, antibodies, antiserum, and agglutination.
Option 6: Describe the Luminol, microcrystalline, and precipitin tests for blood.
Option 7: Semen is determined by two tests. List them and explain each in detail.
Option 8: Describe the physical evidence to be collected from a rape victim examination and how it is to be collected. Who is to collect this evidence?
Option 9: Briefly describe what DNA is and its structure. What are the restrictions on base pairings?
What is the role of the manager in an organization? The role of the manager traditionally has been the person who has set short term goals for the organization to execute and perform tasks that include the process, procedure, and production of the organization’s purpose or vision. The modern role of the manager has developed to include the role of facilitator in the way the manager accomplishes these tasks.
Compare and contrast the role of management in the 20th century organization and the role of management in the 21st century. How has the change in the purpose of businesses (i.e. manufacturing vs. service) and business environment, worker attitudes, and behaviors affected the role of the manager in an organization? Discuss in detail.
Question #2

. Data analyses
In the space below, list the data analyses used to analyze the data gathered during the article authors’ study. Note: You don’t have to know how the analyses are conducted; only naming them is required here.
6. Study results
In the space below summarize the results of the study conducted by the article authors.
7. Discussion
In the space below, summarize the conclusions reached by the authors in the final seven paragraphs of their article. What were their interpretations of the study results? What limitations of their study and needed future research did they note?

What is values-based service? How can a company create value for customers and other stakeholders?
Values-based service is defined as service that is firmly based on the core company values as well as social and environmental responsibility. When the core company values and the social and environmental values are in accordance with the values of customers and other stakeholders, resonance (rather than dissonance) occurs. To be successful, a values-based service business must seek resonance with its customers and other stakeholders in terms of values and avoid any suggestion of dissonance. Companies, such as IKEA, nurture and communicate values in their customer relationships.
Read the article “Values-Based Service Brands: Narratives from IKEA” by Edvardsson from the readings for this module. Using IKEA as the company in point, conduct research, using the University online library and the Internet, to better understand the “IKEA environment.”
Based on your research, write a report addressing the following points:
IKEA’s Marketing (1 page)
Corporate strategy begins with marketing and understanding the key elements of the marketing plan. For IKEA, describe the following elements of its marketing strategy:
How do IKEA’s products, services, and related attributes satisfy the wants and needs known as its value proposition?
How does IKEA create a well-defined market position that appeals to customer wants and needs and differentiates its offering from competitive offerings in a process known as positioning and differentiation?
Assess IKEA’s strategy using the criteria listed below:
Value Chain (1 page)
Analyze the three sources of value (economic, social, and environmental) in IKEA’s value chain.
Explain sources of value as they relate to the wants and needs of IKEA’s core customer.
Explain how IKEA’s supply chain supports its value proposition.
Explain how IKEA’s focus on customer value (economic, social, and environmental) is reflected in its supply chain.
Intangible Products (1 page)
Explain IKEA’s intangible products and benefits.
Explain how other firms employ this concept of intangibles to erect barriers to entry for competitors.
Explain how the concept of intangible benefits is used to increase profits.
Customers (1 page)
IKEA considers the customer to be a critical stakeholder. The IKEA message is directed to the majority of people and what they can afford, and its pricing is dependent on the economic values that serve a majority of its customers.
Explain how this approach may or may not maximize profits for IKEA.
Explain if this premise is at odds with supply and demand economics. Give reasons for your answer.
Performance Measures (1 page)
Suppose you are a vice-president of manufacturing for IKEA and are responsible for establishing operating performance measures.
For all of the performance factors other than quality and cost, create a set of 4–6 performance measures for evaluating your managers that integrates IKEA’s values (economic, social, and environmental) as discussed in the article written by Edvardsson.
For each performance measure, identify one specific process measure that demonstrates how well these values are being upheld in the manufacturing activities including suppliers of the company.
Recommend how you would develop the workforce to livethese values in the workplace. Suggest types of hiring, training, and performance management criteria that you will apply to the workforce.
Write a 8 page paper in Word format. Please use 3–7 scholarly articles in your research. Apply APA standards to citation of sources. Use the following file naming convention: LastnameFirstInitial_M3_A2.doc.
Then, develop a short 6–8-slide Power Point presentation (not including the title and reference slides) covering the same information. Include headings for each slide, and provide your talking points in the notes section to explain the content if the presentation is given verbally. Use the following file naming convention: LastnameFirstInitial_M3_A2.ppt.
