For this assignment, read the case study, “VF Brands: Global Supply Chain Strategy,” on page 437 of your textbook. Once you have read and reviewed the case scenario, respond to the following questions with thorough explanations and well-supported rationale.

1. Contrast the advantages of utilizing company-owned plants to using a large network of suppliers.

2. The development of strategic supplier relationships was discussed in the case. Why is this important to both the company as well as to the suppliers?

Thesis Statement

The main Assignment in this course (due in Unit 6) is to draft a Term Paper titled “A Case Study of _________________” which uses a real-world case study of crisis intervention.

In order to prepare you for the Assignment, you are asked in this unit to submit a one sentence thesis statement for your paper.

As a reminder, the thesis statement (TS) is the most important sentence of any paper you write and should be written before any other part of your paper. Your TS is the beacon for the rest of the paper and the body of your paper must follow and reinforce your TS.

Because your TS is the most critical part of your paper, you should write and edit it before you write any other part of your paper. If your TS is good, it is likely that the rest of your paper is good; if your TS is bad, it is highly likely your whole paper will be bad.

Below is a good six-part test to determine if you have a good TS:

Does it answer the question clearly and directly?
Does it tell you what you are going to cover in your paper; is it a good road map for your paper?
Does it have a point of view and include your opinion?
Does it engage the reader? Is it interesting, and thus memorable to the reader?
Does it answer the “so what” question? Why should the reader care about your point of view? Why is this important to the reader?
Is the writing sharp, crisp, and to the point?

Write a report demonstrating how household decisions to go on holidays are influenced by their stage in the household lifecycle.

Specifically, pick a resort or caravan park; pick two stages in the household lifecycle for that accommodation to target. Then explain how the accommodations positioning and marketing mix (4p’s) would need to differ for each of the segments (stages of the HLC) chosen, use theory and evidence to justify your choices.

In your answer you should choose a resort or caravan park that holds fond memories for you or choose a destination that you look forward to one day visiting and use this as the context for your discussion. If they have more than one product or service, please choose one to focus on. (E.g. P&O cruises offer a wide range of services, choose one specific example to one location on one specific ship).
