Explain the effect of the environmental movement on the process of industrialization in the United States during the 1970s.

The Industrial Revolution, which began in the eighteenth century, has had an ongoing influence on society as well as the relationship between humans and their environment. With the onset of industrialization came the drastic increase in urbanization, setting up of factories in places which were once biomes, and the rapid development of land. All this occurred without assessing the long-term impact to the environment. Recognizing the importance of the Industrial Revolution era and the ongoing impact it has had on the environment is essential to learning how to help the environment and correct the damage of that era.

Using the readings for this module, the Argosy University online library resources, and the Internet, complete the following:

Identify three of the most environmentally negative impacts of the Industrial Revolution and justify your choices. For example, the invention of the automobile revolutionized travel in a positive manner. However, this invention is causing some of the biggest environmental problems as a result of the extensive use of oil extracted from the earth.
Examine how these three negative impacts changed the environment; list the mechanisms through which this happened. For example, factories caused an increase in pollution through the release of toxic waste, which led to diminished and lost fish populations in rivers.
Explain the effect of the environmental movement on the process of industrialization in the United States during the 1970s.
Identify the laws passed to help ameliorate the environmental issues in the U.S. or around the world related to these three impacts. Have any laws been passed since this movement in the 1970s? If there have been laws implemented, summarize the spirit of the law and comment on the effectiveness of the law.
Based on your research, examine whether the state of the environment has become worse or has improved as a result of these laws. Suggest steps to improve the environmental situation.

Support your statements with appropriate examples and scholarly references. Be sure to include an additional page for references.

Is justice applied fairly when crime control is taken into perspective? Why or why not?

Assignment 3: Theories of Crime

Is justice just? Sometimes, what is legal is not always perceived by the public as “justice.” Many laws define criminal acts and the punishment that will be meted out in the event of a criminal offense. However, there sometimes seems to be a disconnect between what actions are considered criminal in nature and who gets charged for it. Sometimes, people committing the same criminal acts receive different treatments even though they are tried under the same courts of law.

Based on the premise that people committing the same criminal acts receive different treatments, read the articles below and answer the questions that follow.

Miller, N. P. (2006). “What kind of liberty? Competing visions of freedom . . .”Liberty:

Magazine of Religious Freedom, 101(2). SIRS Researcher.

Unit V Research Paper

Freedom of speech and freedom of the press are two important rights individuals have in the United States. Today, there are so many news outlets featured on the radio, television, cable, and the Internet that are competing for our attention to the degree that some news media emphasize very sensitive and controversial subjects as a means to simply attract an audience. Some individuals criticize this practice as being harmful to society. Yet, others claim it is appropriate to report this type of speech in such a fashion.

Research the topic, Freedom of the Press, and write a research paper that explains your views on freedom of the press and whether this trend toward reporting sensitive topics does or does not have a negative impact on some work environments.

Make sure that your paper has the following components: BBA 3361, Professionalism in the Workplace 3

Introduction – State your thesis and the purpose of your research paper clearly. What is the chief reason you are writing the paper? State also how you plan to approach your topic. Is this a factual report, a book review, a comparison, or an analysis of a problem? Explain briefly the major points you plan to cover in your paper and why readers should be interested in your topic.

Body – Present your arguments to support your thesis statement. This should be one to three paragraphs in length.

Conclusion – Restate or reword your thesis. Summarize your arguments. Explain why you have come to this particular conclusion.

Your paper should be three to five pages in total length, using 12-point double-spaced Times Roman font using APA format

What impact do the leadership styles have on the present organizational cultures at AGC?

600 Word Response (Plus 2 References APA)

Additional Information: The presentation that Shawn made to the board was a success. You and he both believe that the overview he gave to this leadership group helped them see the challenges associated with the effective management of global human capital and the value of recognizing human capital as the most important asset that a company can have. John and the board gave every indication that they understand the urgency in moving ahead to align key global human capital goals with those established for the global organization. In fact, they asked you to move ahead with the development of these goals and to return next week to initiate goal alignment.

“I’m relieved that my presentation went so well,” says Shawn. “I was braced for resistance.”

“Yes, it’s a major milestone, you say. Now that we have buy-in from the top, we can move forward with developing global human capital goals for AGC. It’s exciting!”

“Indeed it is,” he says. “I want to get this next step started as soon as possible.”

“Yes, developing goals will take time and lots of thought,” you say. “I recommend that you begin by evaluating the existing organizational cultures and leadership styles at AGC. They look to be very diverse.”

“That makes sense,” says Shawn. “Because the company has several global subsidiaries with significant cultural differences, this evaluation will be challenging.”

“Well, as I always say, as goes the leadership style, so goes the organizational culture. Keep that in mind as you work through this diagnostic process,” you say. “It will be foundational for the work that follows.”

“We should make time to discuss our combined knowledge and experience with managers who have diverse leadership styles and the organizational cultures that we’ve seen them create,” he says.

“AGC would benefit from an organizational culture that is more proactive and competitive,” you say. “One that focuses on the most important asset of any organization—the human assets—could turn this company around.”

“When you get back to your office,” you say as you hand him a piece of paper, “take a look at this list that I jotted down during your presentation. I think it will help you with developing goals.”

“This is great,” he says. “Thanks.”

The list you gave Shawn to help him develop goals is as follows:

Define and evaluate the problem with the current organizational cultures at AGC.
What components of the organizational culture should change, and why?
What impact do the leadership styles have on the present organizational cultures at AGC?
Describe problems that exist when a parent organization fails to acknowledge cultural differences at its other global locations.
What challenges does AGC presently face in regard to its past lack of focus on cultural differences?
What solutions can Shawn implement to correct these problems?

What other defenses could the French have deployed to protect their entire border?

Read the article and submit a paragraph on the article with an APA reference.
Also answer the questions at the end of the Case Study on page 38 of the text.
Make sure that your answers are explained in detail

Part 2: Case Study to read and questions to answer:

The Maginot Line was built between 1929 and 1940 to protect France from her longtime enemy, Germany, and to defend the traditional invasion routes across France’s eastern frontier. It was built to provide time for the French army to mobilize and to make up for a potentially disastrous shortfall of manpower that was predicted for the late 1930s. Most of all, it was built to provide a place behind which the French army could hide, a so-called Great Wall of France where the nation could feel secure in a doctrine that would become known as the Maginot mentality. The World War II German invasion plan of 1940 was designed to deal with the line. A decoy force sat opposite the line while a second army group cut through the Low Countries of Belgium and The Netherlands, as well as through the Ardennes Forest, which lay north of the main French defenses, thus bypassing the Maginot Line and going around it. The Germans were able to avoid assaulting the Maginot Line directly. Attacking from May 10, the German forces were well into France within 5 days, and they continued to advance until May 24, when they stopped near Dunkirk. By early June, the German forces had cut the line off from the rest of France, and the French government was preparing for surrender. This famous story highlights several of the principles found in the chapter, the most notable one being defense in depth. What other defenses could the French have deployed to protect their entire border? What other principles did the French violate that led to such catastrophic results

Explain one potential strategy you would use in a community setting to ensure that the public health program achieves the intended outcomes.

During the late 1800s, public health departments began employing health educators to address community issues important to population groups (National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc., 2008). Prior to this time, hospitals and clinics were viewed primarily as places where sick people went to be healed, and health professionals held the closely guarded secrets to cures and prevention. Changes in health care delivery and management in the 1970s ushered in a paradigm shift in who was responsible for individuals’ health. As health care became more disbursed through legislation and economics, health care organizations expanded their services to provide educational services and outreach in community settings as well as centralized information banks. As a result of these historical trends, individuals have become over time more and more involved in educating themselves on their own health care, and they have become more apt to seek preventive information on health and wellness from within their communities and other sources, such as the Internet (Fertman & Allensworth, 2010).

The fact that populations are amenable to receiving health information is not enough to determine what settings are the most appropriate for providing health promotion programs. Although the lines between health care and community settings have become blurred, as a public health professional, you may need to consider factors related to implementing programs in various settings and compare them to decide what setting or combination of settings will work best for the target population.

For this week’s Discussion, review the media titled Healthcare in Rural Communities. Consider how health education programs described in the media might be implemented differently in health care and community settings. Then, select one of the two scenarios provided below, and consider differences in implementation and outcomes depending on setting. What factors should be considered in determining a setting? How might a particular setting influence the implementation of a particular public health program

Scenario 1:

In Namibia, a country in South Africa, health care is provided through the government, mission facilities, and private agencies. The country is sparsely populated, and many people in rural communities have no transportation; as such, they walk to health care facilities. Imagine that you are a health educator who has been asked to address the high incidence of children contracting malaria and other illnesses. You want to educate parents about what symptoms necessitate bringing a child in for care, and what to do in case they cannot bring the child in due to transportation or other issues.

Scenario 2:

Imagine that you are a family health advocate who wants to create a smoking prevention program to decrease the number of smokers in a community. You are asked to target your program primarily to teenagers in order to prevent young people from starting down the path to becoming smokers. Many individuals in the community are employed in tobacco farming and production. The economic reliance on tobacco has made many individuals in the community resistant to messages of abstinence from smoking, although a new study has shown an alarming increase in cancer rates of all types in the community.

Pick one scenario:

Include the number of your chosen scenario in the subject line
