Analyze and evaluate one major drawback to air traffic control automation. Then discuss the degradation in operational safety that could result from this drawback. Finally, creatively apply the knowledge of improving liveware and hardware to that analysis, and develop a proposed means for mitigating this drawback.

Once again go to the NTSB Web site and select one aviation accident report that particularly interests you that also involves a cockpit automation issue. Review the Factual Information chapter (do not review the Analysis, Conclusions, or Recommendations chapters) of the Full Report (not the Summary). Then analyze and evaluate the cockpit automation human interaction issues that were present in the cockpit prior to the accident. Finally, creatively apply the concepts you learned for improving aviation safety by improving the liveware and hardware and for mitigating drawbacks to automation and develop a mitigation plan that might have prevented this accident.
