Explain how the supervisor might communicate to his or her department when a female is about to become part of the work team.

As a continuation of the diversity training manual, you (as the new manager of human resources) should now create portions that specifically address gender issues and are targeted at training and raising the sensitivity of all supervisors regarding potential gender issues. It should include a section on how the supervisor should or should not handle certain gender-based workplace issues. For example, can the supervisor hand out work assignments that he or she feels are better suited to different genders? Can he or she write a job requirement that only one gender can meet, such as a strength requirement?

This section of the manual must, at a minimum, address the following information:

A few general facts about the U.S. population’s gender mix and the gender mix found in notable segments of the workforce should be included. Make sure to include all sources of information.
The essence and applicability of the landmark Griggs v. Duke Powercase dealing with stated job requirements should be addressed.
Click here to read the Griggs v. Duke Power case.
Describe how the supervisor should state minimum job requirements when he or she requests new employees to be hired into the department.
Explain how the supervisor might communicate to his or her department when a female is about to become part of the work team.

What do you think is the most important aspect/concept and/or theory of the stage you chose and why?

In this course we examine the theories and stages of Childhood Development as they relate to parenting. You are going to write a paper on any stage of Childhood Development that interests you (birth to age two, 2-5 years old, elementary school, early adolescence, etc). You will need to apply the theories and conceptslearned in your textbook as well as incorporate information from 2 other sources. The APUS library will be a great place to start this research as well as the sources listed at the end of the syllabus.

The introduction should be a brief summary of what you are going to write about. Your introduction should briefly describe the stage of development you chose and explain why you chose it.
The body of your paper should back up your introduction. Use your research to thoroughly discuss/explain the stage of development you chose by discussing thephysical, mental, emotional, etc. changes that occur during that stage. You must also answer these questions:

Why is childhood development important to understand when it comes to parenting?
Describe and give examples of effective parenting techniques for this developmental stage.
In your opinion, what are the most challenging behaviors of this stage?
Explain how you (or any parent) can apply the parenting techniques/styles from the books to those challenging behaviors.
What do you think is the most important aspect/concept and/or theory of the stage you chose and why?

Your conclusion should summarize your paper as well as answer: What is the most interesting thing you learned from writing this paper and why?

This paper will be a minimum of 3-5 pages long, not including title and reference pages. APA format required. Your textbook is the main source for this paper along with two other scholarly sources.

The CHFD331 Parenting Course Guide in the library is a good starting point http://apus.campusguides.com/content.php?pid=484563

You may not use Psychology Today, Redbook, Wikipedia, WebMD or similar sources for your material.

This paper must be submitted as a Word doc.
General Writing Requirements
· Use appropriate APA formatting, in-text (parenthetical), and Reference citations. APA formatting guides are available in our class Resources link. APA tutorials are also available on the APUS Library page. We highly advise taking the APA tutorial available in the APU library.
· APA formatting requires a separate cover page and a separate References page. Neither counts toward the page length.
· Headings are not required, but include a “running header.” (See the APA formatting guide in the Resources link).
· Sources must be cited in the body of your paper (in-text or parenthetical citations) and on a page titled: “References” (without the quotation marks).
· Paraphrases should be used instead of quotes unless the quote is VERY short and necessary for complete understanding or to make a particular point. Place quotes inside quotation marks and properly cite them. Failure to correctly quote or cite, even if not intended is plagiarism and will result in a zero on the paper for a first instance and course failure for a second occurrence in any other assignment. Rewrites are not permitted for plagiarized work.
· Size 10 – 12 point font in Times New Roman, Arial, or Courier new must be used for all parts of the paper.
· One–inch margins are required.

Provide at least three real-world examples of current or future applications of biotechnology in either of these fields.

Assignment 3: Biotechnology Applications

Biotechnology refers to the technical applications of living organisms or their functions. These applications may be used in engineering, medicine, or agriculture, to name a few. Biotechnology processes and procedures are varied and range from the domestication of animals to genetic engineering. At its core, biotechnology involves the modification of a biological process for a human defined purpose.

Use the Internet, Argosy University library resources, and your textbook to research the field of biotechnology.

Write a paper which includes the following:

Evaluate current or future applications of biotechnology in the fields of medicine or agriculture.
Provide at least three real-world examples of current or future applications of biotechnology in either of these fields. Present a minimum of three reliable references

2)Do you feel Frederick Douglass practiced Thoreau’s idea of Civil Disobedience with his pursuit of education? How did Douglass use his education to prove that Civil Disobedience can be a noble undertaking? Explain

How can I be sure that my relationships with my spouse/partner and my family become an enduring source of happiness?

As you begin this assignment, review the broad range of topics presented throughout the course related to managing people and fostering collaboration. Clearly, 8 weeks does not provide enough time to explore all the topics of this course as deeply as you might have liked. For this final Individual Reflection, select concepts or topics that resonated with you during this course and commit to learning more about them. To bring this commitment to life, identify concrete action items that will support your goal to deepen your personal learning experience in the coming year. Then, consider the following:

What can you do now to integrate the experiences and insights you had in this course with your personal and professional development goals?
What are the most important things you are taking from this course that will shape your future and enable you to make a positive difference?

The Assignment

All components of the assignment must be turned in as one document:

The executive summary: Write an Executive Summary of the course (2–3 paragraphs) that addresses the following questions:
Which content and assignments in this course improved your understanding of managing people and fostering collaboration within your organization (or one with which you are familiar)?
What impact has your improved understanding had or (what do you anticipate it will have) on the value you will bring to your role within an organization?
How have the content and assignments changed the way you think of the manager’s role within the organization and the way you will practice management and collaboration?
How have the content and assignments shaped your goals now and how do you anticipate they will shape your goals in the future?
How has the content in this course helped you appreciate the role that managers have in facilitating positive social change within an organization or more broadly?
After considering what you have learned in the course, review the article by Christensen (2010). Then create a strategy for your professional and personal life that will enable you to be the person you described in “Your Sentence” in Week 3. As part of your strategy, be sure to include responses to the following questions:
How can I be sure that I will be happy in my career and be the manager I aspire to be?
How can I be sure that my relationships with my spouse/partner and my family become an enduring source of happiness?
How can I be sure I will maintain my personal integrity, regardless of ethically challenging situations, or morally ambiguous situations? (Hint: Most people consider themselves to be ethical and would not think they could violate their personal integrity. But what would you do if your employer asked you to perform a task or make a decision you are ethically uncomfortable with (but is not illegal), when failure to carry out such a task would risk your termination, your next promotion, or upcoming pay increase? What might you do if you discovered that a task or policy you carried out in good faith had unforeseen consequences you would feel the need to correct? Seriously reflect on how you will safeguard your own integrity, even when faced with an ethically ambiguous situation, potentially harsh personal consequences, or attempting to right a wrong you may have committed.)
Your action plan: Write a detailed action plan for one new goal for professional and personal development (you will continue to build on the list of goals you started in your previous course). Include the following in your action plan:

Your specific goal for professional and personal development with an explanation as to why you selected the goal. Be sure to provide concrete and specific examples of why the goal is important, the extent to which this goal enables you to be an agent for positive social change, the personal or professional value you expect from achieving each goal, and how the goal relates to the resources you reviewed in the course.
At least two objectives for the goal you have identified. Provide a rationale that explains how your objectives support the goal.

Determine two characteristics or components of the mission statement that you believe are most aligned with the organization’s directional strategy.

From the e-Activity, analyze the mission statement of the selected organization. Determine two characteristics or components of the mission statement that you believe are most aligned with the organization’s directional strategy. Justify your response.

From the e-Activity, review the organization’s values statement (Note: This statement might also be labeled as guiding principles, philosophy, or ethics). Suggest two ways in which the organization can demonstrate its values or philosophy through delivery of its services.

Statements and Strategy
From the e-Activity, recommend one strategic goal for the selected organization that aligns with its mission statement, and one critical success factor necessary for the organization to achieve the goal you recommended.
