B. Write a Thomistic Disputation (500 Words/ about 2 pages double-spaced with no heading); Up to 25 Points
Write an “article” in the style of Thomas Aquinas. Look over those passages in order to get a “feel” for his method. Your article may be on any question that interests you, but note that you must appeal to authorities such as the Bible or famous thinkers. Also, it must be a question upon which reasonable people could disagree. Crucially, it must contain each of the sections that Aquinas utilizes. That is, it should contain the following:

For Monday May 9th: Write a paper of at least 5-7 typed double-spaced pages on some aspect on Philip Roth’s writing. This paper must involve some reading/research on Roth that goes beyond the assigned readings. Here are four different options for your paper. Please choose one.

For all of these topics, I expect you to refer to sources beyond the stories or the novels themselves. Roth has talked and written extensively on his own work, and his writing and his interviews would be a valuable and easy-to-find source.

When you use information that you have read about Roth’s work, I do not want you to just spit it back; I want you to interact with what you have read. By the end of the course, I expect you to be smart enough about Roth that you can respond to what both he and others are saying about his writing.

You do not need to have a huge number of sources. As few as two sources might do the trick. I would much rather have you interact with two vital sources intelligently than have you jam six random sources into your paper.

Finally, if you use biographical information, use it sparingly. There is no reason to include a full biographical sketch of Roth in your paper. If you use information about his life, please just use the information that applies specifically to the main idea of your paper.

Now that you have examined your chosen topic using the three main categories of ethics (consequentialism, deontological ethics, and character ethics) you must choose one that you think works best with your thesis statement and the ethical topic you chose to write on from units 4-8. The vast majority of the unit 8 paper will be just rearranging excerpts from the essays you wrote in weeks 4-7, but the final paper must be a coherent and well-flowing research paper, and not a patchwork of paragraphs pasted together. The paper should follow the structure outlined below:

Introduction: In the first paragraph or two you should provide a brief introduction to the issue that allows the reader to understand the topic and where you will be going with the discussion. The first paragraph should contain your one sentence thesis statement that contains your moral contention and three reasons why you hold that view (from your week 4 essay). Paper Prompt:
The second paper assignment asked you to think about how one text shapes your reading of another text. This assignment asks you to continue to develop that skill, but to deepen it by bringing in outside research of your own. For your third paper, I’d like you to locate one or two scholarly journal articles that will serve as the “lens” through which you analyze your chosen work of literature. Since your brand is held in the minds of the people who know you, you must be constantly aware of external perceptions. Think about what you stand for and what your values are.

With a clearly defined brand statement, you can begin to get the message out, both online and offline. Start to share your story so you can build emotional connections with your target audience. LinkedIn, Facebook, Google Circles, Twitter and Instagram are some of the most accessed websites on the Internet. By not being present on these platforms, or by having an average social media presence you are missing valuable opportunities.

The brain processes images around 60,000 times faster than text, which means people tend to gravitate towards images when scanning through a busy feed. You have a millisecond to make an impact and display the best you that you can! Having professional personal branding images across all social media platforms is vitally important. Pinterest is great for product images (pictures of you) while Facebook is better for aspirational images to encourage your brand’s awareness.

There are three files attached. One is a worksheet to help you organize your thoughts about your personal brand. The other two are articles regarding the necessity for personal branding in the current work environment. Using ideas from the worksheet, and looking at the steps to building a personal brand in the other two article do the following:
