Explain why you selected this particular article and how it is relevant to your research question.

The research log project is the culmination of all your work for this course. Part 2 is worth 25% of your final grade. The following is some information you should keep in mind before submitting it.
Reminder: Part 2 of the Research Log is due by 11:59pm (EST) on the date indicated in the course schedule. You must submit it on time or 10 percent will be deducted each day it is late.
Step 1: (A) and (B):
This information comes from Part 1 of the Research Log.  Go back into your log (through Week 1) and record the requested information.
Step 1 will not receive a grade.
Step 2: (A) Database Search (B) Search Results (C) Revised Search Statement
(A): Select one of the two databases listed to search.  You must search in one of the databases listed here.
(B): There are three questions to answer about your search.  In the text box, for maximum points, list four or more additional keywords that you could use to search further on the topic.  These keywords should come from reviewing article titles, article abstracts, subject headings and the full text of the articles that came up in your search results.
(C): To get credit for this answer, you must REVISE the search statement you used in Part 1.  READ the feedback I provided in Part 1 (go back into Week 1 to see my comments); try substituting some different keywords or use some advanced searching techniques.  After you try a few different search statements in your selected database, enter the search statement that was most successful. It must still be a Boolean search statement.
Step 3: (A) Subject Guide (B) Database Name and (C): Search Statement
(A): Think about the research question, and select a subject guide that is appropriate.  The subject guides are listed on the UMUC Library website.
(B): From the subject guide, choose a database that contains articles on your topic.  This database MUST BE DIFFERENT from the database you used to search for articles in Step 2, Part A.  Remember, give the specific name of the database, for example, PsycARTICLES, not the database provider, for example, EBSCO.
(C): Record the search statement you used to successfully search the database.  You can use your revised search statement (Step 2, Part C) or a new, further revised search statement.  It must still be a Boolean search statement.
Step 4: (A) Citation Information (B) Article Type and (C) Database
(A): Choose a full-text, in-depth article that is relevant to your research question.  DO NOT select a newspaper article, encyclopedia entry or very brief journal article!  You should select an article with significant content relating to your research question; at least 1 page long (not 1/2 page or 1/4 page).  Make sure that the title of the article and the journal name are complete and correct with no spelling errors.
(B): You must correctly identify the publication type, and your explanation must show an understanding of why the selected publication is scholarly/professional, popular or trade (refer back to Week 2 for a list of characteristics of publication types).
(C): Give the name of the UMUC library database that had the full-text of the article.  Remember, give the specific name of the database, for example, PsycARTICLES, not the database provider, for example, EBSCO.
Step 5: Evaluate the Article Content
(A): You should clearly explain how the selected article is credible, applying the criteria from Week 3 (authority, reliability, coverage, and currency).  If you don’t think your article is credible (does not meet the criteria from Week 3) then you probably do not want to select it! Go back and select an article that meets the criteria.
(B): Explain why you selected this particular article and how it is relevant to your research question. Write at least two complete sentences.  I am looking for thoughtful and thorough answers (not a yes/no response).  This means you should read the article and include details about the relevancy of the article you selected.
