The purpose of the term project is for you to choose an aspect of the course that you want to explore further on your own. You will be asked to identify some type of media (movie, television show, book, magazine article, etc) and analyze it in terms of one of the topics we discuss in class. There are three components to the term paper (each due at different times): a topic proposal submitted for approval (15 points), an update on your progress approximately two-thirds through the semester (10 points), and the final written paper (65 points). This paper should be approximately 5 pages long. You are required to include academic sources in this paper. Part 1: Topic Proposal This document should include the chapter/topic that you are choosing to write about. It should also include the book, movie, television show, or other media that you will be using in your analysis. Finally, it should include some suggestion as to how you will use that media to highlight relevant aspects of the course. Part 2: Update This document should include a progress report. How is your paper going? Do you have any questions at this point? Are you struggling making an argument? Do you need help finding resources or completing citations? Use this assignment to alert me to any issues you come across when working on your paper. If possible, include an outline for your final paper. If you have not done any additional work at this point, say so. If you haven’t made progress please include a plan for moving forward.
