Prepare a well-organized and thoughtful five to seven page research paper. The paper should expand on what you learned during this course. Show that you understand the issues using life experiences. This paper should demonstrate a higher level of learning with examples to show that you can analyze the information and apply it to other situations. A title page and reference page are required but not included as part of the paper length. Requires that students use the outside sources. All sources used, including the textbook, must have accompanying citations, and may include Internet sources, books and professional journals, or resources related to the course. Your research paper must contain at least three references.

APA rules for formatting, quoting, paraphrasing, citing, and listing of sources are to be followed.

Evaluate the pros and cons for a formal disciplinary process for the organization.

You are the vice president of Human Resources at Community State University. The president of the university has just informed you that the Maintenance Department is experiencing a high turnover rate in addition to an increase in disciplinary actions.

You have been asked to research the use of better recruitment practices and a formal disciplinary model to address the increased turnover and disciplinary issues in the maintenance department.

Begin your paper by summarizing the applicable HR laws, theories and issues that you have studied so far in the class that might apply to the case.

Then, using the SUO library databases, textbook, and other scholarly resources, research and analyze an effective recruitment process and how it might reduce turnover and disciplinary actions.

Additionally, evaluate the pros and cons for a formal disciplinary process for the organization.

Conclude your essay by defending at least three specific recommendations you would make to the university president.

Your essay should be 6-8 pages, in APA format, and include at least 4 scholarly references.

Why is the monetary amount of each fair share different?

The Center City Anuraphilic (frog lovers) society has fallen on hard times. Abraham, Bobby and Charlene are the only remaining members and each feels equally entitled to take possession of the society’s collection of live rare tropical frogs. The decision is made to use the method of sealed bids and fair shares to decide who will take possession of the entire collection and how much will be paid in compensation to the other members.

Abraham unseals his estimate of the value of the collection at $12,000.00. Bobby’s estimate of the value of the collection is $6,000.00. Charlene values the collection at $9,000.00.

Who receives the collection of frogs?
What is each person’s fair share of the monetary value of the collection?
Why is the monetary amount of each fair share different?
How much money is owed to each of the two people who do not “win” the collection of frogs?
In your opinion how “Fair” is the process described above?

Now pretending for a moment that you like frogs, we will insert you into the situation under special circumstances. Despite (or perhaps because of) your love of all things amphibious, you currently lack the funds to pay each of the others their probable fair share. You will not receive the collection, but wish to receive as much money as possible. You have no knowledge of the amounts in each of the sealed bids, but strongly suspect that Abraham will bid between $10,000.00 and $12,000.00.

Given that you cannot afford to “win” the process, describe how you will go about deciding what to put down for your own estimate of the value of the collection.

Why do you think or how does starting a project with cost management in mind help avoid certain pitfalls which may or may not be present otherwise?

Since cost management is the process by which companies control and plan the costs of doing business and after learning the objectives thoroughly, the demand for public sector services is ever so increasing, meaning that current financial constraints must achieve with fewer resources. With that being said, there is a need for good organization (often vendor) performance and more importantly cost control. Each operational project should have a customized plan and integrate cost management into the overall business model.

After a number of modules dealing with this topic, you are probably quite familiar with the nuances of your own paper. As you review your work, think about how your essay might be received by someone who is not as familiar with the issues you discuss. Try to make your paper as clear and straightforward as possible so your points can be readily understood.

The final version of your paper should be between 8-10 pages in length and cite at least 8 reliable sources using APA format.
